Her maiden name was Esther Aloysius McKiddy, but everyone knew her as Kitty. She could look at you as if you were the most important person in the world and, at that moment, you were. As a teacher Kitty taught children how to read, write and do arithmetic. For Boeing she sewed insignias, passenger seats and astronauts' spacesuits, and at the Rainier School she provided companionship, instruction and comfort.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a truly faithful Catholic. She was loved as she loved - unconditionally. Kitty Abel cared for people, served her lord and, after one hundred and two years, she was invited home last Friday night.
Mass was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church in Buckley Saturday, November 17 at 11 a.m., or you can celebrate her life immediately by treating someone near you as if they were the most important person in the world, because they are.
