Child steals mom's car
A concerned witness called police to report a collision in the 20400 block of International Boulevard South. The car that was involved had been stolen from the owner. Police arrived and determined that a 12-year-old boy had stolen the car from his mother. He crashed his mom's Nissan Maxima into a fence and yard and then ran away. Police were able to find the boy and his mother. The boy was arrested and booked; he now faces charges of grand theft auto.
Boy beat up for his PSP
A boy and his sister were playing outside at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Southwest 124th Street. The male victim had a PSP, a portable game system, in his possession. A group of boys approached the victim and began beating him up.
They grabbed his PSP and ran off. Police arrived and the boy was treated for a broken nose and other minor injuries. They were able to find the boys; it was not clear how many, and they were arrested and booked. They face charges of robbery.
Vandalism to mailboxes
A resident in the 16600 block of 21st Avenue Southwest. called police to report vandalism to mailboxes on their street. When the officer arrived he learned that the vandalism covered several blocks. The resident took the officer down several blocks to show the damage to the surrounding area. Mailboxes and signs had been knocked over up and down the streets. No suspect information was available.
Stealing contents of trash bins
Police were called to the Elephant Car Wash at 13855 1st Ave. S. They arrived to find a man had accessed the lower vacuum door. He apparently cut the locks off the door to get into the trash bins of the vacuums. The suspect was arrested and released. It was unclear what the suspect was looking for.
House Fire
Tukwila Fire Department responded to a report of a single-family house fire. When the first unit arrived, neighbors told them that the house was unoccupied. No one was living at the house but it was reported that transients had been in the house. Crews went in and confirmed no one was inside. Investigators sifted through the house searching for the cause of the fire. Investigators are looking closely at the electrical components of the house. The homeowners have been notified and are cooperating with investigators. The damage to the house is estimated to be around $200,000. SeaTac and North Highline Fire Dept., South King County Medic 4 and the Zone Rehab Unit assisted Tukwila Fire Department.
