Martha was born on a tobacco farm near Callands, Virgina on Dec. 11, 1912, the first child of Thomas and Evelyn Hubbard. She had fond memories of living on the farm and said that she learned from her father to never be afraid and to stand up for what you think is right. She continued to do that until the end of her life.

Some of the happiest times in Martha's life were her years in boarding school and a brief stay in nursing school (until they found out she was only 14). At the age of 18, in 1930 she met and married Leonard McIntyre in Reno, Nevada. After WWII, Martha and Leonard bought a home in West Seattle and settled down to raise their two boys. She never lost sight of her dream to see other parts of the world and in her later years traveled to many countries including Russia, China, Western Europe and South East Asia.

A remarkable woman, Martha was full on natural curiosity and innate intelligence. She never forgot her southern roots. Family and friends were what she valued most in life. She adored her two sons, Michael and Brent and her grand children Larkin, Caitlin and Madison. Martha passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on February 3, 2007 with her family near by. Her life was long and full and she has left a legacy behind based upon the things she learned at a young age on the tobacco farm in Virginia.
