In Loving Memory of Marian M. Cunningham

October 5, 1919 - January 24, 2008

At age 88, Marian passed away peacefully at Providence Mount St. Vincent, Seattle, with her daughter, Christine, son, Jeff, and long-time caregiver, Sheri Starr, at her side.

Marian will be remembered for her quick sense of humor, infectious laughter, and room-illuminating smile. She had many friendships extending over several neighborhoods where she and her husband, Chuck, had made their homes in Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. Mom was always true to her West Seattle roots and coming back to "good old West Seattle" was a natural for her and Dad when health concerns caused them to move closer to Seattle and family.

Marian was born in Seattle to Margaret S. and Harry C. Frankenfield. She was raised in West Seattle, attending Lafayette, James Madison, and West Seattle High Schools (class of 1938.) She still attended the All-School Reunions faithfully and enjoyed rekindling old friendships every year. She received her beautician's license Edison Voc-Tech and worked in the field for several years prior to marriage to her beloved husband, Chuck, in 1947. She embraced motherhood and family life with vitality and fun. Mom was always there for us and took pride in her role as a homemaker. This was her career. She was very beautiful and saw beauty in all that surrounded her. She was a gifted artist and had studied under Jane Bateman Henke, Richard Yip, William Reese, and Marian Vaughn.

Marian was a former member of Children's Orthopedic Guild, Burien Arts Gallery, and several golf clubs where they had lived. She and Chuck enjoyed a long and happy marriage filled with family times, vacations with friends, some world travel, and a lovely retirement in their most recent homes in Pt. Ludlow, WA. and Sunlakes, Ariz. Their love story lasted 56 years until Chuck's passing in 2003.

Marian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Christine (Bill) Horner of Seattle; and her son, Jeffrey (Brenda) of Ladera Ranch, CA.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Mrs. Betty Jones of Issaquah, WA.

There was a memorial service on Saturday, February 2, 2008 in the Chapel (third Floor) at Providence Mount St. Vincent.
