Patricia Anne SULLIVAN

Patricia Anne Sullivan was born Oct. 10, 1924.

Early life in Roslyn, Wash., was Irish-Welsh family oriented and centered around their pub business, "the Brick." Her miner father died too young, forcing her mother, brother and Pat to move to northeast Seattle. Operating a boarding house afforded Pat and her small family opportunities to meet a wide cross-section of interesting people, and she truly loved people!

Pat graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1943, at the height of World War II. Then she went on to UW for a Journalism/Education major. Hollywood beckoned where even would-be screenwriters were "casting-couch" victims. While living in Southern California, Pat converted to devout Catholicism, later leaving the Church over political divergences. She was an informed, opinionated life-long Democrat and PCO.

Pat loved to sing, thus the "Rolling Crones" choral group was extremely important in her life. She had a marvelous contralto voice, often soloing with great effect. She took her many years on the Crone of Puget Sound board as Publicity Chair very seriously.

Also important to Pat was her TOPS group in Belfair, Mason County, where she retired after teaching Journalism many years in the Highline School District. Her yearly treks to Hawaii were memorable as were her tours of Europe, including the Greek Isles and a sailing voyage in Fiji.

Pat was revered and loved by her "Beach Gang" in Belfair where daily swims relieved her aching hips. She even "polar-beared" on New Year's Day with a few other faithful buddies. Her enthusiastic 80th birthday celebration last Oct. 10 demonstrated how the community respected Patricia A. Sullivan, a friend to remember.

The service is Sunday Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at Shoreline UU Church, 14724 First Ave. N.E.
