Man arrested for DUI with son in the vehicle
A Burien man was arrested after being caught driving while intoxicated with his three- year-old son in the back. The Washington State Patrol stopped the 57-year-old man on 1st Avenue for not wearing a seat belt. When the trooper approached the vehicle, he saw two 40-ounce beer bottles lying next to the man on the front seat. His son was in a car seat in the back. The man registered a BAC level of .102. He was arrested and taken to the King County Jail. He faces charges of DUI and Reckless Endangerment. Relatives picked up the boy.
Injured fighting dogs abandoned
Two pit bulls were found in the 13600 block of 18th Avenue South. Both dogs were severely injured and bleeding profusely. They appeared to be fighting dogs. Animal control came and took custody of both dogs. Witnesses saw a vehicle drop off one of the dogs but were not able to get a plate number.
Bride arrested for drunk driving
A 31-year-old bride-to-be heading home from her bachelorette party was arrested for drunk driving hours before she was to get married. The woman was driving over 90 mph and weaving in and out of traffic on Interstate 405 in Bellevue. A Washington State Patrol Trooper arrested the woman, processed her and let her take a cab home in time to make it to her early afternoon wedding in Burien. The bride's alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. She will face charges in King County District Court.
Fire started on top of car
Combustible materials, including a tennis shoe, were place on the top of a vehicle and set on fire. The car was parked in the 15400 block of 9th Avenue South. The fire damaged paint and trim of the rooftop and door. A smiley face and "Ha Ha!" were written on the passenger side rear window. No suspect information was available.
Signs stolen from construction site
Normandy Park Police have announced that up to seven large metal signs have been stolen from a construction site located at Southwest 199th Street and 1st Avenue South. According to police, the thefts took place between Aug. 6th and Aug. 10th. Police say that these thefts are expensive and time-consuming for not only the construction crew, but also for the City of Normandy Park. Local metal scrap yards were put on notice about the theft, and there is no word yet on suspects. The Normandy Park Police Department is looking for anyone who has information about these thefts. One of Washington State Patrol's Most Wanted captured
Detectives from the Washington State Patrol in King County arrested one of their most wanted vehicular assault suspects on August 28. Kenneth W. Williams Jr., 28, was arrested after detectives received a tip that he was residing in Des Moines. Williams is a suspect in a vehicular assault that occurred on August 13, 2009 when he left his seriously injured passenger on the side of the road after falling off of the rear of Williams' motorcycle. Williams had been driving erratically and popping wheelies just before his passenger was ejected. Williams was booked into the King County Jail on $30,000 warrant.
