At the age of 92, Fred passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2005. He was a man of few words with a heart of gold. Those who knew him will always remember his gentle smile and generous nature.
Born in Kimball, North Dakota on Feb. 24, 1913, Fred moved out west as a young child with his family and settled in Washington where he loved the moderate climate and beautiful scenery. He often commented that he had been around the country and around the world, and could think of no finer place to live than the Greater Seattle Area.
Fred worked as a mechanic for Inland Transportation for 50 years.
Never one to rest, after retirement, he worked as a partner in designing and fabricating hillside lifts that allowed property owners along Puget Sound access to their homes in a safe and convenient manner. Fred was also a small aircraft pilot, an avid skier, and an auto mechanic.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, and his brother, Robert.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Lorene Ryan; his nephews, John, Danny and Tom, and his nieces, Patricia and Kathy; and his friends, Donna Anderson, Betsy Fox and Gerri Russell. He will be missed by all.
At his request, there will be no funeral. His friends will gather on the date of his birth to celebrate his life.
