Today at Steve Cox Park four games were played starting at 9 am and finishing up at 10 pm. The late afternoon game was the Seattle Blues vs. the Cyclones of the Smoky Division. The Blues got onto the board in the third inning with two runs off of four consecutive hits.
The score remained 2-0 Blues till the fourth inning when the Cyclones erupted with a four runs. Scoring continued back and forth with the Cyclones maintaining their lead. Entering the eighth inning with the score 7-4 Cyclones the Blues pitcher began to loose steam and gave up two runs on a double, an RBI triple, and a sacrifice fly ball. This forced the Blues closer to try and hold the Cyclones to their five run lead in hopes of a late rally. Unfortunately the Cyclones were on fire and padded their lead with two more runs.
In the bottom of the ninth the Blues looked like they might make a comeback when the first two batters got on base with two singles. The next batter crushed a line drive past the Cyclone shortstop driving in one run making the score 11-5 Cyclones, but then the wheels came off when the next two Blues batters popped out without advancing their runners and the final batter hit a bouncer past the mound that was quickly scooped up by the Cyclone shortstop and easily threw out the runner at first base ending the game before the Blues could score another run.
