The Ballard High School girls soccer team ended its 2010 nonconference schedule with a 1-1 tie Sept. 17 against a Seattle Prep team had won four straight and was outscoring opponents by more than 2.5 points per match.
Prep's Madison Nelson put the Beavers in a first-half hole with her goal in the 38th minute.
Senior Maria Tsagalakis salvaged the tie for the Beavers with a score off an assist from senior Sara Gilmore in the final two minutes.
Ballard finished nonconference play with an 0-3-3 record. The team opens KingCo play against Eastlake High School at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Memorial Stadium. Eastlake beat the Beavers 4-2 in their meeting last season.
