July 19, 1945 to March 3, 2006
Jon passed away following a brief illness from complications of diabetes. He was preceded in death by his father Charles, and is survived by his mother Ruth Nelson and brother Allan, both of Burien, as well as numerous cousins and their offspring.
Jon attended the old Lake Burien School for one year and was in the first class of the new Gregory Heights Elementary. He graduated from Highline High School in 1963. His first jobs, while still in high school, were with the Hi Line Tin Shop and then with C&C Paint Co. After two years at Highline Community College, Jon went to work for the Boeing Co.
In 1969 he joined the Coast Guard, and served four years in Ilwaco, Depot Bay, Ore., and Attu, Alaska.
Following his discharge, he went back to work for C&C Paint Co., managing stores in Burien, Ballard and Anchorage. He also managed stores for Pittsburgh Paint and Parker Paint in Bellingham, Ballard, Puyallup and Tacoma. The past 10 years, Jon lived on top of a hill in Graham, where he enjoyed an incredible view of Mt. Rainier. He didn't seem to mind his hour-long drives to work; he liked it "out there in the fresh air."
Jon's hobby was his friends. He loved trading jokes and humor with friends all over the country via the Internet. If success in life is measured by the number of people who care about you, he died a very wealthy man.
Services were held March 11 at Parkers Chapel, Burien. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Paralyzed Veterans of America is suggested. To share your memories of Jon, please visit his online epitaph at www.bonneywatson.com
