Medical emergency at bottom of cliff
Firefighters responded to a medical emergency at 5108 S.W. 311 Place Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival they were directed to a house down on the beach area below that address. The firefighters treated a 65-year-old female for consciousness problems. She was unable to sit or stand upright without passing out.
As the patient lived at the bottom of a cliff near the Puget Sound, the firefighters were unable to get her back to the top for transport by ambulance due to her condition. The firefighters improvised by requesting Marine 26 to the scene. The patient was then carried to the boat and transported to the Redondo Boat Launch. There the patient was loaded into an ambulance for transportation to the nearest hospital. Due to privacy laws, the patient's outcome is not known.
False police report
A woman is suspected of texting a false request for help to 9-1-1. She reported that she was being held hostage. Police completed a welfare check on her and found she was fine. The woman denied making any contact to 9-1-1.
Man causes a scene at police station
A man came into the King County Sheriff's Office police precinct and began to repeatedly ring the contact/door bell at the front counter. Officer's responded to the bell and the man began causing a disturbance at the precinct. He appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. During a search of the suspect a glass pipe was found on his person. He was arrested and booked into King County jail.
Wallet snatched while pumping gas
While pumping gas at the 7-11 located in the 11600 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive, a man was approached by an unfamiliar male. The suspect asked for some money for gas, the victim pulled out his wallet to get some cash. The suspect grabbed the wallet, got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
Stolen truck found
A truck stolen from in front of the Ronald McDonald House in Laurelhurst was recovered last week from bushes at Southwest 112th Street and 19th Avenue Southwest in Burien.
The truck belongs to Jeremy and Karen Hartle of Kalispell, Montana. They are in Seattle with their 3-year-old son, John, who is being treated for a stage 4 cancer at Seattle Children's Hospital. They used the truck for storage, including John's medical supplies and Jeremy's tools.
Vehicle found on blocks
The owners of an Infiniti G35 parked their vehicle in the driveway of their home near the 16000 block of 14th Avenue Southwest. The following morning they went outside to find their car sitting on blocks. Unknown suspect(s) used a jack to raise the car and stole the wheels and tires.
Couple arrested stealing rent checks
A man and woman have been charged with theft and burglary in connection with rent check thefts at Des Moines apartment complexes. Des Moines police had received multiple complaints of checks and money orders being stolen out of rent deposit boxes.
On Sept. 14, a man using his metal detector at Des Moines Beach Park reported seeing a couple exiting out of some bushes. The man investigated and found dumped mail. He alerted police who arrested the couple at the park. Police said more stolen mail and check-altering equipment were found in the couple's motel room on Pacific Highway South.
Woman punched for not having money
A woman was assaulted in an apartment complex on the 15000 block of 4th Avenue Southwest. A man approached the woman and demanded $2 so he could buy a beer. When she said she didn't have any money, he punched her in the head. The blow knocked her down to the ground and the suspect fled. The woman was treated for minor injuries.
