Beulah Potter, a Burien resident for 52 years, left this life on June 22, 2006. She was a cherished mother, devoted wife, grandmother and sister.

Beulah was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Sedan, Kansas, the sixth and last child of Harriet and James Crepps.

Beulah had an interesting life. She was born the same year the Titanic sank. She met her husband, Harry Potter, during the Great Depression. Later, during World War II, they helped the war effort by working in Oakland, Calif., shipyards building Liberty ships.

After the war ended they moved to Newton, Kansas, where they bought and operated a restaurant for several years.

In 1954 they moved to Seattle where Harry was employed by the Boeing Company and Beulah worked as a credit manager for Sears, where she made many lifelong friends.

In 1981, after Harry died and Beulah had retired, she kept busy by joining the Sunnydale Garden Club where she held various offices and made many close friends. In particular she loved running the "treasure table." She also enjoyed attending the Burien Free Methodist Church. In fact, her week was not complete if she hadn't gone to church. Her times with the Royal Heirs was very special.

She traveled extensively, visiting China with her daughter Claudette and her son Mike and his family. In addition, she made many trips to the East Coast and the South with her daughter and niece Anne Williams. However, her most treasured moments were just spending time and cooking big meals for her family and entertaining her grandchildren.

Beulah is survived by her son Mike and daughter-in-law Jeannie; her daughter Claudette Tolonen and son-in-law Duane; her grandchildren Tim and Laurie Tolonen, Steve Tolonen, Jeff and Julie Potter, Zak Potter and Nina and Ken Heft; and six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Beulah is preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and her precious granddaughter Cindy Tolonen and all of her brothers and sisters.

Beulah was a happy, optimistic, wonderful and caring mother. She will be in our hearts and minds forever. We will always miss our mama.
