Never met a stranger, always sharing, always caring.
Margaret (Buxel) Allsopp died June 21, 2006. She was born July 2, 1919, grew up in Des Moines, attended Des Moines Elementary School and graduated from Highline High School in 1938. With economic times tough during the Depression, the Buxel family lived in a three-room house with outdoor plumbing. Overlooking Mt. Rainer and Puget Sound, the house sat on "Poverty Hill."
Roy Allsopp and Margaret were married in 1946 at the Church By The Side of the Road, where they were active members. Later, Roy and Margaret were faithful members of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, and Foster-Tukwila Presbyterian Church. Margaret trusted God. She prayed for her children, studied her Bible, and did her best to act on what she read. She always practiced generosity and gave herself to helping others. Margaret engaged anyone nearby, being a great conversationalist and a good listener. Seamstress and fabric collector, at one time she had five sewing machines that she claimed all did something different. She often said, "The best thing she could do for her children was to love their father," and she did.
Her sisters, Genevieve and Mildred, her brother Eugene, and her ever-loving husband, James LeRoy Allsopp, preceded her in death.
She is survived by sister Virginia (Ray) Deffries, sons Jim (Carol) Allsopp, Dean (Robin) Allsopp, and daughter Beth (Stephen) Nielsen, grandchildren Jeff (Marla), Darren, John, and Peter Allsopp, Heidi (Aaron) Thiese, Daniel Nielsen, Karina Putnam, and William and David Beukema, great-grandchildren Maya and Emily Allsopp, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Foster-Tukwila Presbyterian Church, 14401 56th South, Tukwila. Memorial donations may be made to Foster-Tukwila Presbyterian Church.
