Jacob Carl Garland Johannesen

Born in Tacoma, Wash., Oct. 17, 1928. Died in Burien, Wash., Aug. 19, 2006.

Jacob was a loving husband and father. A graduate of Washington State University, he was a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer, working first at the Hanford Atomic Works, then at Boeing Aerospace from 1958 until his retirement in 1990, primarily contributing to the Minuteman missile program.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jensina (Molver) Johannesen and Jacob Lauritz Johannesen; and sister, Dorothy (Johannesen) Kvalheim.

He is survived by his wife, Joahn (BonDurant) Johannesen; his brother, James Garland Johannesen (Lawanna Keigwin Johannesen); his four children, Judith Merie Johannesen (Gilmar Jorge), Jon Eric Johannesen, James Bruce Johannesen, and Jacob Lauritz Johannesen; his two grandchildren, Jesse Lee Johannesen, and Alessandra Johannesen Jorge; and his great-grandson, Jacob Keone Johannesen Jorge. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Jan (BonDurant) McMillan (Ann Haarer); his brother-in-law, Sidney Kvalheim; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His friends and family gathered for a celebration of his life on Sunday, Aug. 27, at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
