Avril M. Lore

Avril M. Lore, a nationally and internationally respected Girl Scout for over 63 years and a member of the Friends of Our Cabana in Mexico, died unexpectedly September 6.

Avril was instrumental in securing funds for the Our Cabana (Our House) in Mexico. She also helped in finding funds for Girl Scout troops to travel internationally. She was proud to be a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts.

Avril was also well known and loved as a Life Guard and swimming instructor at Evergreen Pool, a career she began at age 58. She taught water aerobics and was eagerly waiting the reopening of the pool, this month.

She also volunteered at the Manhattan Food Bank and the Salvation Army. In addition to being a leader in Brownie, Girl Scout Cadette and trainer for Girl Scout leaders, Avril was a volunteer in Special Olympics.

She is survived by her daughter Leeh McArthur Miller, her granddaughter Shelby Miller and grandson Andrew Miller, brother Kenneth Hill and sister-in-law Olive Hill.

She touched a lot of people in her life. She will be missed
