"Cece" was the "heart" of Seahurst and her neighbors already miss her. After a brave, three-year fight with breast cancer, she passed away peacefully at 11:20 a.m. September 22.
Born on March 1, 1946, in San Mateo, California, she moved to the Seahurst Community in 1975. She was a flight attendant for Western/Delta Airlines for 34 years. She loved to play the piano and violin, ice skate, garden and paint. At the age of 60, she took up rollerblading! She was fluent in French and pretty good in many other languages. Most of all she was kindness personified. Cece was a "giver" who cared for flower containers in Burien every summer. She loved all animals, and volunteered to teach basic English to inmates at the Women's Prison at Purdy, and to Cambodians, Laotians, Vietnamese, Russians and Hispanics, even while she worked full-time.
She leaves behind her aunts, Doris M. Barry and Margaret Ryan; cousins Diane E. Barry, Jonathan Beachner and Julie Ryan; former husband and good friend Gary C. Coy; and too many friends to list.
Her memorial service will be held at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel in Burien, 900 S.W. 146th St., on Thursday, October 5, at 11 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Another Chance Pet Adoption, 21915 Marine View S, Des Moines, 206-878-1292, or the Salvation Army
