On Dec. 13, sometime between 3 and 7 p.m. a house on the 8000 block of 45th Ave SW was burglarized. The unknown suspect(s) broke down two south-facing doors to gain entrance and stole $50 in silver dollars and a safety deposit key from the victim’s bedroom. The suspect(s), unable to find more loot, wrote, “You need more (expletive) to steal,” on the wall of a different bedroom.
During the torrential downpour on Dec. 12, several people found refuge at a bar/café on the 4200 block of s.w. Admiral Way. Heavy rains and wind knocked the establishment’s power out around 2 a.m. and, per café policy, they asked all of their patrons to leave. One woman had no interest in leaving and became confrontational with a female employee when she placed her hands on the woman’s shoulder and asked her to leave. The woman/suspect whirled around and punched the employee in the mouth, then wrapped her hands around her neck and began suffocating her. Several other employees stepped in and separated the two before serious injury occurred. The victim suffered injuries to her lip and scrapes and red marks on her neck. The suspect told police employees started “yelling and screaming” at people, which bothered her, so she started yelling back. She claimed she hit the victim out of self defense. The suspect was read her Miranda warnings booked into King County Jail for suspicion of assault.
Three unknown black males were seen on video breaking into a store’s wine cellar on the 4500 block of 42nd Ave s.w. around 9 p.m. on Dec. 15, while the store was still open. The first suspect was seen on surveillance tape using a screwdriver to break into the cellar, which houses the high end wine and champagne. Two more men came into frame and they began filling a grocery basket with Dom Perignon, Perrier Jouet, Palmes D’or and Veuve Cliquot. The 90-year-old manager on duty told police he heard the wine cellar alarm, “but by the time he arrived they were gone.” At the time of the report the manager was unsure how many bottles were missing, but told police one of each bottle would total out at $927.96. A surveillance tape copy was made for follow-up detectives and the suspects are still at large.
Last week around noon, a man was walking home on the 7400 block of Rainier Ave s. when an unknown Hispanic male walked up behind him and attempted to steal his umbrella. The two men engaged in a tug-o-war and the victim rose victorious. The suspect gave up and crawled into the window of a nearby apartment. Police contacted three Hispanic males inside the apartment, but a “field show-up” revealed none of them were the suspect. The victim then told police he wasn’t sure which apartment it was. An area check was negative and the suspect is still at large.
