Suspicious men at local bus stops
The principal of an elementary school located in the 11200 block of 14th Ave S. called police to report suspicious persons at a school bus stop. Two female students told their counselor that they had been approached by a white pick-up truck at the bus stop near South 124th St. and 8th Ave. South. Two men were in the truck, the girls were not able to see the driver. The passenger was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20's. The passenger leaned out the window and asked the girls if they were late for school and then asked if they needed a ride. The girls replied "No." The passenger then opened the door, got out of the truck and demanded the girls "Get in the truck" and began walking towards them. Both girls ran away and were able to hide until the men left. They continued to school as planned. A few days later an officer was dispatched to a similar call of a green sedan driving slowly around bus stops and following children in the area of South 128th St and 8th Ave. South. Both girls were there and noticed the driver was not the same man in the truck a few days prior. The sedan slowed down as it approached the bus stop and the driver was just staring at them. Both girls ran off. This man never spoke to the girls but was seen driving slowly around the neighborhood near other children and bus stops. The school district is making plans to have security near the bus stops where this has been happening.
