Glenn Totten was born June 10, 1919, in Minidoka, Idaho, and passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2006. Glenn had a busy and interesting life. He graduated from Rupert High School, Idaho, and worked at Sun Valley. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and fought forest fires. He came to Seattle and worked for Boeing for 17 years with an interruption for Army service in World War II.
He later drove Seattle Transit busses for six years. He belonged to the Burien Volunteer Fire Department. Glenn went into selling real estate. He built a four-plex and a boat storage yard.
During all this time, he built a garage and added onto the little house he and Florence bought in 1947. He cleared four lots of huge stumps that were on the property, using dynamite. As a sideline, he worked for Anderson and Acres Company blowing stumps to clear their properties. Glenn had one of only four licenses to blow stumps within the Seattle city limits at that time.
Towards retirement, Glenn enjoyed driving a school bus for the Highline School District. He enjoyed fishing in both salt and fresh water. He and Florence drove their motor home through Canada and all but six states.
Glenn is survived by Florence, his wife of 64 years; his daughter, Merrily Rogers (Kenneth); his son, Terry Totten (Cecilia); and six grandchildren: Mark Rogers, Emily Reid, Amy Haase, Jay Totten, Erik Totten and Robbie Totten, and great-grandson Seth Reid.
