Michael David Cofield (Mike), age 52, passed away Feb. 22, 2007. Mike died peacefully from a very short fight with cancer. Memorial Services were held in Bakersfield, Calif., on Feb 24.
Mike graduated from Mt. Rainier High School, class of 1973. He was a good student but classmates would remember him most for sports. He played varsity football and earned statewide championships in the shot-put, discus and javelin throwing.
Mike lived most of his adult years in Kent and Shelton, Washington, raising his three great boys, Bjorn (25), Kyle (23) and Leif (19) Cofield. Mike would have said that raising such wonderful boys was his greatest accomplishment in life!
Mike's professional life was in developing worldwide expertise in the field of Ultra Pure Water for the use in electronic applications. Mike was in charge of startup and design of the plant and lead plant operator for LaPaloma Generating Company in Bakersfield, California, for the last three years. His boss and co-workers had only complimentary things to say. He will really be missed (they had to have four people step in to fill Mike's shoes).
While living in Bakersfield he met and married the love of his life, Roben Borders Cofield. He gained a second family with Roben's children and a very special first grandchild, Avery Rose.
Mike is survived by his wife, Roben, sons Bjorn, Kyle, Leif Cofield and Christopher Markham; his parents, Pat and Dave Cofield; a brother Monty Cofield, and sisters Trish Brown and Tina Cofield.
Though Mike has passed, his sense of humor and charisma will continue to live large.
