Marilyn "Mary" Saunders, born February 23, 1934, in Seattle, passed away peacefully March 16, 2007, at her home in Shorewood. Mary is survived by her son Charles Saunders and his wife Linda, and her daughter Donna Simpson and her husband Tom.

Mary grew up in the Burien/White Center area where she graduated from Highline High School in 1947. Mary was a local business owner for many years and made many friends in the area before retiring in 1990.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Charles.

Mary dedicated the later years of her life to enjoying her seven grandchildren; Jamie, Noelle, Jordan, Brian, Lindsey, Alex and Steven and her only great-grandchild, Jaylen Thomas. She taught them a love of the outdoors and spent a lot of time with them at Lake Cushman, which was her favorite place.

She will be missed by her sisters, Jacque Thornton and Jeanne Gadke, along with many other friends and relatives.

A memorial service was held on March 23, 2007, at the Evergreen Church in Normandy Park.
