Copper wire theft
At about 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 6, the power went off at the shopping plaza located in the 12000 block of Ambaum Blvd. S.W. The power was off for about 6 hours. One of the business owners found out, after talking to the power company, that someone had stolen a bunch of copper wire. The unknown subject went to the rear south side of the plaza and cut the pad lock off of the gate to the buildings power system. Once the subject was inside this fenced area he shut the power off to the entire complex. The subject then cut off and stole a large amount of copper wiring. No suspect information was available.
Unauthorized entry to foreclosed home
A concerned neighbor called police to report that a former neighbor had returned to a home located directly east of his home and was trying to enter it. The home is boarded up and currently going through foreclosure. No one should be at the home. Deputies arrived and placed a man into custody and he stated there were three other people in the home. The deputies announced their presence and the three subjects exited the home through a hole in the garage. The former resident stated they entered the home to "check it out" and to retrieve personal property. Some of the boards were removed and entry was made through the garage on the lower level of the home. They also kicked a hole through one of the doors. Officers were unable to contact the property owner. All four subjects were released at the scene with a warning about criminal trespassing.
