Our beautiful Donna left us unexpectedly on March 16, 2007.

Born September 28, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, Donna grew up in Roseburg, Oregon, and spent her working life in Portland. She received her bachelor's degree from Marylhurst University and her master's degree in Fine Arts from Antioch University.

She was employed with Georgia Pacific for 17 years. In later years Donna made her home in Des Moines where everyone knew her as a kind and giving person who loved working in her beautiful garden that brought her and others so much joy. She was a member of Saltwater Unitarian Universalist Church where she was quite involved. Donna's passions were mountaineering, traveling, reading, gardening, writing poetry and giving poetry readings. To no one's surprise, she became a published poet. We all shared in Donna's joy at seeing her poems in print, a lasting legacy.

Family and friends were always very important to her and she will be fondly remembered as a loving and caring sister, niece, aunt and friend to so many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The American Heart Association.
