Long-time Seattle-area resident Alfred S. Laiminger entered into rest Monday, April 2, 2007, at Highline Medical Center after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Alfred was born in Trinidad, Colorado, to Alfred, Sr. and Ida (Deldosso). He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1951 and went to work for Boeing, first in Seattle and then in Wichita, Kansas. He returned to Seattle in 1955 after military service with the Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Alfred retired from the Boeing Aerospace Company in 1988 as a Senior Design Manager and he was a lifetime member of the Boeing Management Association.
In retirement, Alfred turned to painting and sculpting, creating several beautiful bronze works using the Lost Wax Casting method. He recently finished creating historic maps of his hometown of Sopris, a former coal mining community in southern Colorado.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley, at the home, son Mark and his wife Linette and granddaughters Anna and Maria of Spokane, son Ron of Auburn, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Arnie Savio of Palm Coast, Florida, brother-in-law Stephen Bettinger of Kirkland, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held April 6, 2007, at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Alfred's name to the American Cancer Society.
