Maxine R. Tweney, 89, passed away peacefully in Grand Junction, Colorado, on May 6, 2007, from complications following a stroke.

Maxine was born February 16, 1918, in Doland, South Dakota, the only child to Mayme Ultstad-Calvert and Warren Calvert. Maxine was raised in Marcus, Iowa, and lived for a time in Evergreen, Colorado, where she met George H. Tweney. Maxine, George and family relocated to Burien in 1956, and she resided happily there until she moved to Fruita, Colorado, in 2002 after the passing of her husband.

Maxine was preceded in passing by her husband, George H. Tweney, one son, Bill Read, and a granddaughter, Alyssa Rae Read. She leaves behind a loving daughter Ramona Werber, and loving sons Dennis, Scott, Allen and Ken Read, and Craig Tweney. Also mourning her passing is a large family of nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Maxine will be laid to rest next to her mother in the Marcus-Amhurst Cemetery in Marcus, Iowa.
