Richard Henry "Rick" Anderson, C.P.M., R.P.A., a resident of Union, Wash., passed away peacefully at his home on Hood Canal on Friday, June 29.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Janet Reid Anderson. Rick's family includes children, spouses and grandchildren: Marc, Connie, Eric and Dane Anderson of Vancouver, Wash.; Brian, Lisa, Kelsey and Erin Anderson of Houston, Texas; Tricia Hansen Crozier and Anna Hansen of Burien; Kristen, John, Johan, Ava and Helena Klein of Seattle; Dana Porter of Kirkland; and Reid, Debbie, Kayten, Barrett, Abbey and Brock Porter of Sammamish; as well as many friends who loved Rick dearly.

Rick was born September 16, 1932 in Aberdeen, the son of Lilly Maria (Siggstedt) and Henry L. Anderson. Rick was preceded in death by his sister Lois (L.P.) Pettit of Grayland, Wash., in 2001, and by his parents.

Rick had a long and successful career in commercial real estate management and trust real estate in the Seattle area, serving as Vice President at Bank of America and American Marine Bank. He also worked for University Properties, Sterling Recreation and the Kilroy Corporation. He was a dedicated employee and a trusted advisor to his clients.

He served as President of both the Seattle Building Owners and Managers Association and the Western Washington Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. Civic affiliations included: Downtown Seattle Development Association, President's Club, Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Coalition for Affordable Housing, Washington Athletic Club, Swedish Club, and the Seattle Real Estate Board. He was a life member of Musicians Local Union 360 out of Auburn-Renton.

Rick graduated from Highline High School in 1950 and served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

While a resident of Hood Canal, Rick was involved in the Dalby Waterwheel Historical Preservation Project and the purchase of property for the New Community Church of Union.

Rick shared his love of the sea with all of those around him. He loved to "putter" around on boats and fish and gather crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. He loved to entertain. He was never without a canine companion to share in his adventures. He was a member of the Seattle Yacht Club, the Seattle Tennis Club and was a founding member of the Three Tree Point Yacht Club. Rick shared his love of music by playing the accordion with many different and talented musicians, forming several bands during a musical career that spanned several decades.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the Swedish Club at 1920 Dexter Ave. N. in Seattle.
