On Saturday afternoon, police responded to a robbery in Lake City. Store employees advised police of a similar suspect who robbed a Ballard specialty store the day before. The Ballard store manager said that around 5:00 p.m. on Friday a “chubby built” 18 to 20-year-old man had entered the store and asked where the “MyTouch” phones were located. A short while after directing the man to the display, a loud noise sounded when the suspect attempted to pull a phone from its security cable. The suspect was approached by the store manager, but the suspect had a pair of heavy duty scissors and was attempting to cut the cable. The suspect attempted to flee after freeing the phone from its cable, but was stopped by the store manager. The suspect then moved closer and pointed the scissors at the store manager saying, “You better get out of my way!” The manager did not want to be stabbed or cut, so the suspect was able to flee the store with the phone. Numerous security cameras had caught the suspect on tape. Surveillance photos of the suspect were shown to both the Ballard and Lake City store managers. Both identified the suspect as the same man who had robbed their stores.
