Gymnastics

State 3A

Kennedy snagged an eighth place finish as a team at the state gymnastics meet held Feb. 18-19. The Lancers scored 144.400 points, with eight athletes taking part in the all-around competition.

Charlotte Dittmar led the Lancers by taking 22nd place in the all-around with a 33.825 score. Her top individual finish was a ninth place tie in the floor exercise with a 9.350 score.

The rest of the Lancers placed in the all-around only.

Danielle Carnahan was 53rd with a 29.900, Ashley Knox 58th with a 28.075, Danielle Sposari 80th with a 22.550, Eleana Stevens 89th with a 16.600, Emily Mitchell 102nd with a 13.150, Jenny Donahue 105th with a 12.200, Lisa Armitage 106th with an 11.550 and Maddy Brummond tying for 140th with no score.

Mia Alverez of Highline had the biggest individual event performance among the locals.
Alverez was second in the beam with a 9.550, third in the vault with a 9.525 and 13th in the bars with an 8.250.

Della Norton of West Seattle tied for 45th in the all-around with a 31.220 total.

State 4A

Kerrie Heckel of Mount Rainier came in 22nd in the 4A all-around competition with a total of 33.35 points.
Heckel took 15th in the beam with an 8.925, tied for 17th in the floor with a 9.425 and tied for 18th in the vault.

Wrestling

State 4A

Mount Rainier finished 37th as a team in the state Class 4A meet at the Tacoma Dome with 13 points.
A.J. Atoigue of the Rams took seventh in the 140-pound class with a 7-1 win over Richards of Curtis.
Teammate Alex Pieris finished eighth in the 145-pound class.

State 3A

Kennedy and Highline scored four points each to come in 45th and 46th. Chief Sealth did not score and came in 60th.

Girls state

Highline took home an eighth place team finish with a total score of 49 and Chief Sealth came in 73rd with no score.

Jamila Culcleasure of Highline won the 285-pound class, winning the final against Laura Charboneau of Stanwood by fall in 4:42.

Celeste Rodriguez of the Pirates placed seventh in the same weight class. She won the seventh place match by fall in 4:01 over Susie Molioo of Bellarmine.
