(Marshall) Benster
Annie Bobs began her final journey on 07/14/07. She was 88. She is survived by her children Jim, Jackie and Dick (Sandy), and beloved grandchildren Tyler and Lindsay. Thanks to Mission Healthcare for three years of loving care.
The daughter of two college professors, she attended the University of Colorado on a scholarship, joined Alpha Phi sorority, and earned a degree in Economics in 1941. In 1942, she implemented the federal hot lunch program for the Seattle School District, and married her college sweetheart, Dixon W Benster. Originally a trumpet virtuoso, he became a pilot during World War II and then flew for United Airlines until his death in 1976.
She was a terrific mother, a fine baker (especially of pies), and a passionate bridge player-for over 50 years, her bridge buddies were her best friends, as were her Normandy Park neighbors, Travelers Aid and airline pals, and Alpha Phi sisters. Bless you all, ladies.
She loved to travel and visited over 100 countries, with family and friends, on tours and by herself. Her adventurous spirit shone brightly on her journeys, and surely will on this, too, her greatest adventure of all. We love you, Mom!
A memorial will be Sunday Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Des Moines Senior Center, 2045 S. 216th St. Please bring a pie to share, if you can.
