Pauline Iona Woodward, 91, a loving wife, devoted mother and retired educator, passed away August 24, 2007, in her residence in Los Angeles, Calif.
A memorial service was held September 1, 2007, at Kingsley Manor Chapel.
Pauline was born in Ellensburg on December 13, 1915, to Carl and Iona Ryan. She was raised in Seattle where she graduated from Ballard High School. Pauline attended Central Washington College of Education and earned a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school in Newport, Wash. (1939-1940), and in Snohomish. After obtaining her Master's Degree in Child Guidance and Development from Seattle University, she became a reading consultant in the Highline School District until 1961.
Pauline and Everett W. Woodward were married on June 6, 1940, in Seattle. She graduated from college, taught school, married and raised her children. She helped manage The Lodge near Mt. Rainier from 1963 to 1990, and then became a "snowbird" for many years before residing in Los Angeles. Pauline is survived by her husband, Everett Woodward, her daughter Susan Woodward and husband Tom Kenney, grandchildren Sean Hammer, Stephanie Gustafson, Evan and wife Dyan, and Alan Woodward.
Brothers Carl and Edward Ryan and her son Stephen W. Woodward preceded Pauline in death.
