Lacrosse:
The Ballard High School boys lacrosse team was outmatched by Garfield last night, losing 6 to 17 at Lower Woodland. In the beginning of the first quarter Ballard held a 2 to 1 lead over the metro division preseason-poll favorite Garfield. The first quarter seemed promising for the Beavers, gaining a 2 to 1 lead but Garfield, the metro division preseason-poll favorite, dialed in their offense and scored nine unanswered points to get ahead with an eight point lead at half time.
Ballard’s Scott Brownlee scored two goals and Ray McCormick, Brian Gemme, Thomas Christensen, and Jacob Marks each scored one goal. Ballard goalie Nick Onstad-Hawes had eleven saves.

The boys lacrosse team plays again this evening against Highline at 8 p.m. at Moshier Park.
Softball:
The Beavers varsity softball team played Lindbergh yesterday afternoon for their second win in a row.
Winning 14 to 5 at Gilman, the Beaver bats were too strong for Lindbergh pitching, Seniors Jamie Thelen and Bernie Cardon hit back to back homeruns.
Baseball:
The Garfield baseball team meanwhile was too strong for Ballard, beating the Beavers 3 to 1.
It was a tight scoreless game until the sixth inning when Ballard's pitcher Ryan Kangas hit a double and brought in a run. Despite Ballard's seven hits, they only managed to get one run across the plate. Garfield countered with three hits in the second half of the sixth inning.
The next baseball game is against Inglemoor at Whitman on Thursday, March 24th at 3:45 p.m.
Boys soccer:
Eastlake High hosted the Ballard boys soccer team last night for a 5-to-1 loss. Ballard started off strong with Brent Campbell scoring the first goal at 14 minutes but Eastlake was quick to respond with three goals in the first half and another two goals in the second half. Eastlake's Sean Klaurer put three balls in the back of the net and Eastlake's James Gee and Gerard Galvin had one goal each.
The boys soccer team plays again on Thursday, March 24st at 3:30 p.m. against O’Dea at Genessee JV Field.
