Life continues to rock and roll for West Seattle filmmaker Jamie Chamberlin with today's release of his video of Seattle legend Duff McKagan's song Dead Skin, the first release from the album The Taking with his band, Loaded. Other band members include guitarist Mike Squires, drummer Isaac Carpenter, and bass player and West Seattle resident Jeff Rouse.

Chamberlin followed those cool cats, ZZ Top around Europe during their tour in 2008 with his cameras for his documentary Double Down Live which appears in ZZ Top's double DVD offering of the same name released a year ago November. He has currently been filming Loaded around West Seattle and in L.A. for a new project, a sort of Hard Day's Night look at the band's life, punctuated by all 10 songs from The Taking, and a fictional story line. The film's title is not yet decided.

McKagan, 47, better known as "Duff", played for 13 years with Guns N' Roses, recently did a stint with Jane's Addiction, and is the bassist for Velvet Revolver. He writes a weekly music column for the Seattle Weekly. He has a reputation of being business savvy, and has written on finance for publications including Playboy.

His celebrity wife, Susan Holmes, stars in the video. A supermodel, swimsuit designer and cast member of last year's reality TV show, Married to Rock, Holmes reveals her lively curves in Dead Skin.

"We did the video shoot it at the Moore Theatre February 18, then the following day shot Susan (Holmes) at Duff's house in Seattle," said Chamberlin, adding that the Seattle Theatre Group, or STG, was very generous in their arrangement with the band to let them use the space. The theatre looks grand and bright and seems to join the musicians as a cast member in the video. When this song joins the nine others in Chamberlin's film, the morsel of the narrative it contains will help to tell the whole story.

"The film follows the band and their adventures morning to evening, and through the course of the film every song on the album will be in music video form with a vignette (of story line) attached," he said. "All 10 songs connect by this underlying narrative. I think Dead Skin is close to the finale.

"This song required more attention than any other videos in that it is out to support the first single from Loaded's album the The Taking," he said. "It went through several revisions. We spent at least another two weeks looking at revisions, making subtle changes. Eagle Rock Distributors' online site gives the Dead Skin video a really big online presence.

"I'm hoping by this summer they are going to release the deluxe edition of The Taking which will include the CD, and DVD of the movie. We also hope to take the film through the film festivals as well."

Chamberlin teases us with his film project, promising some cameos from other well-known musicians, because, for now, their identities are hush-hush.
