Sequoia is so athletic that the couple has had to block off an area near a fence with recycling bins so she won't bound over it's four foot height.
While the exact heritage of Sequoia is not clear, one thing is. This dog can bound. Owned by Danny McMahon and Elaine Moy.
"We got her in Yakima at the pound," explained McMahon, "We looked online and it turned out that in Seattle and Bellevue there was a lot of pit bull mixes and we didn't really want a pitbull, so as we looked in Yakima and Wenatchee, they just had a whole bunch of good looking puppies. But we didn't see a picture of her. We went to look at the puppies but when we got there, there was Sequoia.
She was five months old at the time and is now two years old.
McMahon explained that they live by a park and that Sequoia is, "highly energetic."
"When we get her in the park and let her leash off you've never seen a dog bound like that. In a matter of five seconds she's a hundred yards away. She can jump probably 3 or 4 feet in the air. When she does it, her legs are straight. She loves just tearing it up in the park."
Sequoia is not a frisbee chaser, despite her leaping ability but she is so fast that she has in fact caught some squirrels. "Sadly, one didn't live," explained McMahon," but I don't think she meant for it to die because after she caught it she was licking it and wanting to play with it."
She weighs 75 pounds and is long and lean.
That may be due to her diet. "She eats two cups in the morning of Dog Lovers Gold," said McMahon. "We have to go all the way to Northgate to get it," said Moy, "I was buying a welder from this woman on Craigslist and she had these six really huge dogs and they had beautiful coats but they were old, and she's like, 'It's what I feed them."
The place they get this remarkable food is called The Great Dog Shoppe near Northgate.
Her bounding ability was proven again when she and her "cousin" Olly (a boxer) found a way to get on to a trampoline. "They jump in it on their own, it's really neat," said Moy.
