Helen left us to be with the Lord on November 29, 2007. Her passing was peaceful and she had been watched over by her family, friends and the caring staff at Wesley Homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and son Mike. Helen is survived by her sister Thelma, son Bob, grandchildren Scott, Joe, Stephanie, Mike and Grant and five great-grandchildren.
Helen's family moved from Colorado to Washington where they eventually decided on the city of Des Moines to be their permanent home. Here she resided for over 50 years. Working as a secretary for a Burien Real Estate company gave her the opportunity to meet and make many new friends. After several years in the working world, she decided to follow her true passions of helping others and enjoying life. This led to many years of volunteer work in the Des Moines area including the Masonic Home, Judson Park and the Des Moines Police. In addition, she spent a lot of time on the family photography business.
She became a long-time member of the Des Moines Gospel Chapel which strengthened her faith and provided more opportunity to assist with church needs, meet, work with and help others.
Helen always made time for her many other personal interests of music, dance, foreign languages, bowling gardening and most of all the family pet dogs. At times there were up to three lucky dogs in her home receiving continuous care and love and returning the same to her.
Her family and friends have always said how fortunate they are to know this gentle, easy going, gracious, loving, honest and caring lady with the sweetest smile and great sense of humor. When you were with her, you knew and could feel she was truly happy you were there.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bonney-Watson and any remembrances can be to anyone you feel is in need.
At her request, no formal service will be held. A family gathering will be held in the Spring when the flowers are in bloom, the humming birds are at the window feeders and the brilliant sunset colors are reflecting off the clouds and Puget Sound to remind us, as they did her, of all the good life has to offer.
