George was born on July 18, 1917, to George and Mary Alishokis in Worcester, Mass., and passed away from complications due to Mesothelioma on February 23, 2008, in Burien surrounded by his family.
George is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Fern Alishokis, son Wayne G. Alishokis (wife Sharon), North Highline area, daughter Vicki Simpson (husband Gary), Granite Falls area, grandchildren Keith Roye of Granite Falls, Kevin Roye of Randle, and Marcie Alishokis (Lambchop), North Highline area, two great-granddaughters and two nieces, Maralyn Quilla, and Marie Monroe of Worcester, Mass. He was preceded in death by his two sisters.
George was many things in his life, a 50 year plus member and Past Master of Maritime Lodge 239 F&AM, he was a firefighter, KCFD 11, and was a professional engineer. George enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1936 and was assigned to the USS Arizona. George was an avid outdoorsman and could build, fix or repair anything. But George was proudest of his family and always let them know that fact.
A Memorial service will be held in George's honor on Saturday, March 8, at NHFD headquarters station at 1243 S.W. 112th St. at 11:30 a.m. A reception to follow at the fire station.
