Gary passed away Jan 24, 2009 at his West Seattle home from diabetes related illness.

Born in 1942 and raised in Seattle, he was preceded in death by his father, Frederick W. Freeman, and mother, Dorothy Brackett Trzynka. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Ellen, his brother Roger and five nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Queen Anne High School, he worked for Cargo Express in Alaska, and later, as a communications technician for US West Communications, from where he retired after 25 years of service.

From an early age, Gary was an avid skier and enjoyed the slopes of his home state as well as others and Europe. A passionate Husky football fan, his hobbies included oil painting, photography, collecting decorative ceramic miniature shoes and global travel.

He and Ellen traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and South America during their marriage. He attended St John’s Episcopal Church in West Seattle, where he was a faithful usher and greeter and served on the Churchyard Committee. Gary was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz in Oregon.

There will be a short service to celebrate his life and friendship, followed by a reception, at St John the Baptist Episcopal Church in West Seattle – 3050 California Ave. S.W. on Saturday Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.

Life is for the living, so come celebrate our Gary’s life and remember his friendly smile and warm personality. We all will miss him.
