Fay A. Lowthian

Born on July 26, 1920 in Lockwood, Ohio to Dale and Lavinia Horton and passed away on Feb. 7, 2009 in Seattle. Fay, as an infant, moved to the Yakima Valley, living in Grandview and Sunnyside.

Following graduation from Sunnyside High School, she moved to Seattle where she was employed as a legal secretary and as a secretary at Denny Junior High School in West Seattle.

In 1956 Fay was preceded in death by her first husband Osmer Case, and in 1960 she married Kenneth Lowthian; a loving marriage of 48 years.

Fay was an active volunteer with St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, West Seattle Community Hospital, Cancer Society Discovery Shop, The YWCA, and as a chaperone for the Seafair Queen and Princesses. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe with her husband.

Their most memorable trip was to Russia, Hungary and Czechoslovakia in 1972. This was behind the Iron Curtain at the height of the Cold War.
Fay’s greatest pleasure was her family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Fay is survived by her husband Kenneth, sons Riley (Carol) and Scott (Yvonne), daughters Vicki Jo Keller (Ron) and Sharon Edmiston (Rick), 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 3050 California Ave. S.W., Seattle WA 98116. Memorial donations preferred to St John the Baptist Church or to the Kenney Life Care Fund, 7125 Fauntleroy Way S.W., Seattle, WA 98136.
