Over the first weekend of May someone broke into a school’s storage shed at 700 S. Concord St. The suspect(s) brought needle nose pliers and a hammer to the scene of the crime (both were left on the ground next to the shed), used the hammer to bash an opening in the particle board wall and discovered the shed was full of preschool student supplies. Nothing was missing, however a large rubber ball generally used for a good ol’ game of kickball or red rover was removed and found against a fence close by.
On May 1 around 9 a.m. police responded to a robbery call at the corner of 35th Ave s.w. and s.w. Avalon Way. The victim stated he was drunk and had been drinking with friends all night. At some point he asked a friend if he could pass out in his car on 35th, which he did. After a refreshing nap, the victim told police he could not find his friends and started walking around aimlessly when he round into a male suspect who started rummaging through his pockets, taking his phone and wallet. The suspect was disappointed with the lack of money in the wallet and asked the victim if he could go to an ATM. The walked to an ATM together and the victim illustrated his bank account was in the same shape as his wallet. The suspect gave the man his wallet and phone back and walked away, likely disappointed. The victim could not describe the suspect any further.
An avid coin collector realized early last week that someone had stolen important parts of his collection. The man has limited mobility and leaves his door unlocked so visitors and health care workers can get in easily. When his granddaughter came to visit she ran to the spot where grandpa usually leaves a few coins for her burgeoning collection and none were there. The man also discovered two lockboxes were missing that contained $2500 in coins each, mostly silver dollars.
From across the Duwamish on the 1800 block of 19th Ave s., the eventual suspect and victim (two friends) went to the suspect’s father’s house for dinner. After enjoying a meal, the suspect’s father remembered that he owed the victim $35 and gave him the money. The suspect then became very upset because he felt he was entitled to the money (for unspecified reasons). The victim disagreed and as he walked away through the backyard the suspect attacked from behind, punching him in the head several times and taking the $35 from his hands before escaping from his own father’s backyard. Victim suffered a laceration to his head that needed stitches and police have a clear description of their suspect.
