Press Release:
Loads of cast, crew, supporters and backers of the independent TV Show, The Divine Marigolds shot entirely in West Seattle, piled into the Wing it Theater to see the much anticipated screening of The Divine Marigolds pilot. “It was a labor of love, where everyone came together, mostly unpaid, to work on a project they believe in”, said Creator/Actor/Producer Lisa Coronado. The Event, hosted by Producer/Creator Will Chase, was the showcase for the pilot of The Divine Marigolds that brought forth a TV Show worked on by over 50 Seattle cast, crew and producers.
The show is created in Seattle and utilizes many of the talented cast and crew available here. Many other film makers came out in support of the event. “The NW film community is excited about our show and helping us along the way as it is a perfect vehicle to showcase the industry here”, says Chase a long time Seattle producer.
The pilot was directed by Las Vegas/NW Director Francisco Menendez, who is currently at the Cannes Film Festival in France promoting his feature film and gaining exposure for the show. The Producers, Will Chase, Jeremiah Kaynor, Jordin Paul Mitchell, Lisa Coronado and Alder Sherwood are working to bring this dream to fruition for all the people involved in the project. “We strive to create a team that always fosters creativity, forward thinking, innovative filmmaking methodology and we have a lot of fun doing this.” says Sherwood.
The Marigold’s Cast is based on the characteristics of the family, both humorous and sometimes challenging. “The characters and world of The Marigolds have taken on a life of their own, they practically write themselves”, says Coronado, who is the lead writer on the project.
The Divine Marigolds is an off kilter family comedy about a large Irish family living in Seattle. All the adult children have moved back home, resulting in hilarious yet deeply affecting moments as they all learn to live under the same roof again. “If America is ready to get back to the family value roots of what made her so great, then Marigolds is a winner. I mean what is out there that is competition? I am sick of sleazy reality shows and slick cop drama.” says Paul Eenhoorn, a longtime and cherished Seattle actor who plays Patrick “Pops” Marigold on the show. When asked about the impact of The Divine Marigolds on the Seattle Film community Eenhoorn responds, “The Marigolds brought so many of us together that we can really call them all part of the family. The Seattle film community is buzzing, we all know it is going to happen here, it's just a matter of how soon”
“The most frequent question we get is ‘when are we going to see it on TV?’,” says Producer Jeremiah Kaynor, “We are working on it with the fervor of wild cats. We can’t announce anything yet, but we have representatives pitching it this week to networks! We decided to create a funny, lovable, fresh and creative quality show that has a relatively lower cost to shoot than your average network show. We all give 110% to the project and know that the energy and momentum around the project will pan out in the end. People always say that ‘The Divine Marigolds have the luck of the Irish behind them.’ I think it’s more than that. It’s the energy of all the people cheering us on that is behind us. You can’t lose when you have that kind of passion from a city.”
