Police Blotter Week of 5-16-11
Mon, 05/16/2011
A game of golf turned ugly earlier this month when two male golfers found themselves stuck behind a very slow moving, heavy drinking group of males at the West Seattle Golf Course. The sober group of two asked the intoxicated group of many if they could speed up their game. The request was not well received and one of the booze hounds said he would “be waiting for them” in the parking lot. The sober two finished their game and headed out to the parking lot. The aggressor from earlier popped out from behind a truck and “belly-bumped” the victim several times, then started throwing punches, cutting his lip and nose. The suspect fled the scene but police were able to gather information from the clubhouse and said the victim will likely press charges once he is apprehended.
On May 10 shortly after 6 p.m. a man who has been in the U.S. for nine months stopped by the Seattle Public Library on Delridge Way s.w. to pick up some movies before heading home after a long day at work in Issaquah. Leaving the library, he took out his wallet to see how much money he had and was approached by three young men. One of them threw a punch at the victim and missed, another grabbed his wallet and fled down an alley and the victim whirled around and ran back towards the library. He was kicked in the back before all three suspects fled down the alley. The victim approached a nine-year-old “kid” he had seen with the older robbers and pleaded with the kid to tell them they could keep his wallet but he needed his green card back. The nine-year-old became confrontational and told the victim if he wanted his green card he would have to walk down the alley to get it. He called 911 instead. The police report states officers likely know who the three black males in their late teens/early twenties are as they are known for “preying on innocent people” around the library.
Sometime Sunday night, May 8, an unknown suspect broke into a third story classroom on the 6000 block of 16th Ave, using a 9mm Ruger to shoot out the window before scaling the building and crawling in. Once inside, the suspect ripped a digital projector from the ceiling and forced open a cabinet to steal a “data camera.” The projector was left behind and the suspect exited through the building’s main front door, abandoning his or her earlier misguided heroics of entry. Police discovered a Luger 9mm shell casing outside and a used slug on the ground in the classroom. Blood samples were taken from a wire dangling where the projector once lived and were submitted for DNA testing.
Under suspicious circumstances, a house on 16th Ave s.w. was burglarized on the afternoon of May 7 for the second time in five months after the owner changed alarm companies. The alarm does not have a motion sensor but goes off when any doors are opened. The unknown suspect(s) used a ladder to climb in a window, staying away from doors completely and stealing several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and electronics. Additionally, the land line, alarm system and internet connection were all fully functional when the victims left, and all were offline when they returned.
