Original post:
At 3:31 pm the 911 call went out from the Viking Bank near the West Seattle Junction. Three armed Hispanic males entered the bank and proceeded to rob it, then fled on foot with a bag with what a witness later said looked like thousands of dollars. They fled to an alley to the north of the bank, which is at 41st and Alaska.
The dye pack in the bag exploded. They dropped the bag. Officers believe they then fled in a vehicle. Police helicopters were launched to conduct a search but nobody was spotted.
A'dree-Rose Hollinger, a witness, photographed the bag of money. She said this:
"Everybody near my room said there was a smell burning through their nose. My roommate said there was a big bag of money in the parking stall outside. We walked out looking at the money, the red bag, the dye, the bad smell. The cops then told us to come inside because they said whoever robbed the bank were armed and had guns.
"They were $20's. $100's, like stacks. We didn't touch it. The bag was kind of ripped open and the money falling out and blowing around. Probably there was a couple of thousand... We hear about robberies at the Junction all the time but I've never been this close to one before. I mean, I don't want to talk too bad about the neighborhood because I love it. I'm so nervous. I wish I would have seen somebody."
