Lurene Ramsey Prescott
1/07/1906 – 3/21/2008
Lurene reached the age of 102 while living at the Kenney Retirement home after 60 years in their Fauntleroy home. Following surgery for a broken hip, she failed to recover. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in March of 1996 and leaves one son, two daughters, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of a horse and buggy doctor and a piano teacher in the small town of Philip, South Dakota where she attended grade and high school and played the piano in the local theater for the silent melo-dramas.
Lurene moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington to study music where she met her beloved husband and was married for 75 years. They were long time members of the Fauntleroy Congregational church in which she used her vocal abilities in the choir; was a member of PEO and Seattle Music Study Club, enjoyed sewing, gardening, friends and neighbors, and trips in their motor home.
Lurene was a ray of sunshine to all she met. Her sharp mind and wit were priceless and she could concoct any invention to meet the need. We will all miss our loving Mom and Nana but she will always be with us in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held May 4th at 1:30 PM at the Kenney Retirement Home. It was Lurene’s request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to World Vision.
