A community member called 911 after seeing a suspicious person along Dibble Ave NW. The responding officer found the suspect, who was equipped with a generator and a drill set. The suspect was nervous when the officer asked him questions about the items. The suspect claimed that he was trying to get a landscaping job and was waiting for a taxi to get to work. The suspect was identified and found to have a history of possession of stolen property, car prowling, and weapons violations.
A taxi arrived at the scene, and as the suspect prepared to board, the officer noticed that he had a package addressed to a nearby residence. When questioned, the suspect said that he had moved the package from the front steps but did not explain why he had done so. At this point the officer arrested the suspect. The officer then spoke with a neighbor of the house that the package was addressed to, and the neighbor said that the people who owned the house were away.
Several people who lived in the neighborhood said that they had seen the suspect in the area. One witness reported seeing him attempt to force a window open on a different occasion. The witness then shouted at the suspect, who ran away. The description of the would-be burglar matched the description of the suspicious individual. Police believe the suspect forced his way into several garages in the neighborhood and stole numerous items, including the generator and drill set with which he was found. The suspect was booked into King County Jail and is suspected to be behind several burglaries along Dibble Ave.

One desk was ransacked but it was unclear whether anything had been stolen. A maintenance man for the business, who also responded to the scene, believed that a laptop may have been taken from a nearby room. The officer was unable to find fingerprints but did find smudges that suggest that the suspect wore gloves.

The victim said that the burglar went through filing cabinets but did not take any bank documents or checks. Although it was clear that the burglar had thoroughly gone through the victim’s belongings, several valuable items were left lying in plain view.
