Ella Mae Carr

Ella Mae (Lee) Carr April 16th, 1914 – June 20th, 2008 long-time West Seattle resident Lee Carr passed away at her assisted living facility June 20th. She was one of six children born to Mikal and Eline Krogstrand in Hilland S.D. She left home to attend High School in Philip, S.D. She then attended and graduated from the St. John’s McNamara Hospital Training School as a registered nurse. She enlisted in the army on Dec. 10th 1943 and served as a nurse in Europe until Dec of 1945. She was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Award for her efforts. While serving in Europe, she met her future husband Lloyd Carr. Upon discharge, she and Lloyd were married in Rapid City S.D. on Jan.18th, 1946.

They then moved to West Seattle. She is survived by her son Mike and daughter Linda (husband Merle), granddaughter Courtney (husband Frank) and great grandson Weston. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, July 4th, 1977 and her granddaughter Tiffany, Jan. 20th, 2006. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
