According to police, a man wanted on a state Department of Corrections escape warrant was captured by Normandy Park police on June 30.
Police pursued him down the Southwest Suburban Sewer District compost facility access road in Normandy Park. He jumped out of the car and jumped over a fence, chased by two officers.
The man was arrested by police and transported to the King County Jail in Seattle.
From Fish's perspective, here is how the event occurred:
Maybe a half hour after the Highline Forum meeting I got back to the "Fish House". I left half of the upper gate open. I heard sirens, really close by. The gate and driveway alarms were going off almost continuously so I finally poked my head out expecting birds or neighbors walking their dogs.
Four Normandy Park Police cars and 5 officers had a wanted felon they'd been looking for all day nailed at the lower SWSSD gate in handcuffs inside the closed district property which meant the bad guy and officer had to both jump the barbed wire fence. Wow, our Police in action! No injuries to either.
I had the key to open the gate for them. That would have been quite a scene trying to get the bad guy back over the barbed over fencing in hand cuffs.
