Bertie Vetter

Bertha “Bertie” Vetter passed away at the age of 89.  She
was a long-time resident of West Seattle, where she and her
husband Ernest “Tim” Vetter raised three children: Donald,
Douglas and Barbara.

Tim and Bertie were both avid golfers and she was a very
active member of the West Seattle Women’s Golf Club, known
for her powerful swing and her long, straight shots.

After Tim’s retirement, from South-Western Publishing Co.,
the couple moved to Olympia to live on a golf course (of
course).  Tim passed away in 1983 and Bertie relocated to
Redmond to be closer to her sons.

She was born Bertha Deliah Allen in Craig, Montana on
October 28, 1917.  She was a wonderful mother, always
active in her children’s school and outside activities,
including many years with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of
America (many camping trips and hundreds of boxes of Girl
Scout cookies to her credit).

On December 1st 2006 she succumbed to heart failure and
complication of Alzheimer’s disease at Cascade Vista
Convalescent Center in Redmond.

She is survived by sons Don (Sue) Vetter of Bellevue and
Doug (Diane) Vetter and daughter Barbara Vetter of Woodland
Hills California, as well as two grandchildren and a number
of nieces and nephews.

She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who
knew her.
