Mary “Kicky” Heytvelt Carlsen

Mary Heytvelt Carlsen, 91, of West Seattle died December 23, 2008.
At Park West Care Center, West Seattle.
Mary was born, May 14, 1917 in Kansas City, Kansas to Louis B. and Petranella Heytvelt. Her family moved to West Seattle in 1918. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1935. After graduation Mary worked at Best’s Apparel in downtown Seattle. On July 30, 1938 she married Clarence O. Carlsen.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to read, crochet, garden, spend time with family and friends, especially during the summer at her Hood Canal beach cabin.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Clary, sister Nell Kinerk and brother Ira Heytvelt. She is survived by her sons George Louis Carlsen (Barbara), Ronald Clarence Carlsen (Nancy), Clary Donald Carlsen (Sandra), Jon Charles Carlsen (Karen), daughter Barbara Carlsen Scott (James), sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, brother Louis B. Heytvelt (Anna Ruth), sister-in-law Dolly Carlsen, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends she so enjoyed.
A memorial will be held at 1 PM on January 17, 2009
