Kenneth Ken Levi Schubert, 94, husband, father, and
grandfather, passed away on January 6, 2009. He was born
near Fruitland, Idaho in 1914, and in 1936, he graduated
from the University of Idaho. In 1937, he married the former
Maxine Chapman, and in 1943, moved to Seattle, to join
Boeing Aircraft Company. His career spanned World War II,
the Cold War, and the birth of the aerospace industry.
Ken was an active member of the West Seattle Christian
Church for more than sixty years, serving on the Board of
Elders, and as Chairman of the School Board. A devoted
family man, he cherished his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He had a lifelong love of travel and
the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an
expert craftsman and woodworker.
Maxine, his wife of 71 years, survives Ken, as do his three
children and their spouses: Ken and Lucia Schubert, Keith
and Eleanor Schubert, and Kate Schubert and Liz Newman, all
of Seattle. His family also includes seven grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Miriam
Higgins, of Boise, Idaho.
A celebration of his life will be held at West Seattle
Christian Church on January 17, 2009, at 1:30 pm.
Arrangements entrusted to Howden-Kennedy. The family
suggests donations to West Seattle Christian Church and
Seattle Childrens Hospital.
