Retired Seattle Firefighter and Decorated Korean War Veteran. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Julia, and four grown children, Steven, Richard, Laura Ellis, and Michelle Matthews.

At 9, from Army Dependents housing, Carl heard and smelled the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
Carl served with distinction in the US Army as a helicopter specialist, survived being shot down, and earned several medals. Upon settling in Seattle in 1958, he married and established himself as a “West Seattleite.”

Carl worked for the Boeing Company. His skills as an aircraft mechanic earned him a place with the team that built the first 707, the famous “Dash 80.” He later earned bonuses for his ideas to improve military weapons, such as the world’s first supersonic anti-aircraft missile – the “Bomarc.”

Carl won a job with the Seattle Fire Dept. in 1961. During his service to the City of Seattle he earned recognition for his hard work in firefighting and saving lives. As a trained Emergency Medical Technician he was an unsung hero who responded to many accidents and even a few urgent baby deliveries. All Seattle Firemen risk their lives in what is often perilous work and Carl Scripture was no exception.
