Home hidden by landscape makes an easy target
In a cautionary tale about the advantages of landscaping to keep your home visible to your neighbors, a house of 35th Ave S.W. with a tall wooden fence and a mass of shrubbery and trees keeping anyone from viewing the front was broken into during the day on Oct. 11. The unknown burglar(s), once inside the landscape of diversion, kicked the front door down, splintering the frame where the dead bolt entered. Although the victim had a large collection of firearms, the thieves only appear to have stolen a 32” Panasonic LCD TV. A civil war style sword and BB gun were moved to the couch, but ultimately not taken. The sword was taken to the crime lab for fingerprint analysis.

A group of four was hanging out in a parking lot on the 9200 block of 17th Ave SW just before 1 a.m. on Oct. 9 when they were approached by two males and one female walking northbound through the alleyway. The two males pulled out handguns, told the group not to move and one victim had the barrel of a pistol planted against his head. The robbers demanded everything out of the victims’ pockets. The robbers gathered everyone’s wallets, cell phones and car keys before pistol whipping two of the victims in the face and back of the head and fleeing southbound down the alley. One of the victims ran to the other side of a nearby apartment complex and viewed the three suspects enter a late 1990’s model black four-door Volvo. Suspect one was described as a black male, 5’6”, 120 lbs., 20-years-old with a “black Pirates baseball hat, red t-shirt black jeans and a red cloth around his face.” Suspect two was described as a black male, 5’9”, 170 lbs, 25-years-old wearing “a brown hooded jacket, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.” The third was described as a black female, 5’4”, 200 lbs, 28-years-old, “wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes.”
